Tested an E10 and everything was 10-22 cents sharp even after pulling out a significant amount on each joint. Ideas?

My Buffet E11 is slightly sharper than my R13. Some say student/intermediate level horns are designed to be a little sharper to compensate for the weak embouchures of beginners. Don't know if that is true. And the E10 you tested on could have designed to play at A=442 maybe?

Could it be down to a difference in bore size? I also wonder whether you were using the stock barrel or the ones you have listed in your signature.

Gavalanche, I tried both the 65mm stock barrel and my aftermarket barrels.

Any solutions? It plays great with a great core sound. It's just super sharp. Could key heights completely fix it?

You say you tested this E10. I've never seen one, but I assume it's below the E-11. Does the same mouthpiece and reed setup play in tune on your Tradition? Are the aftermarket barrels you tried longer than 65mm? Has anyone else that you know tried this E10?
You don't give much in the way of specifics about the instrument or what you've tried to bring it down to pitch. It could be a bore problem, as Ken suggests. It could be that the 65mm barrel is too short.
Without knowing what exactly you want the E10 for, since you apparently own a Buffet Tradition, I'd say don't buy the E10 if a longer barrel doesn't solve the problem (although you didn't say you want to buy it). Key heights can't all be that far off and the instrument still be playable.

Karl, the whole setup plays in tune on my Tradition, as well as most other Buffets that I've tried. The barrels that I use on my horn are both 66mm. With both of them I have to pull out at least 2 mm (closer to 3) to get within 10 cents of the note (on the E10.)
Specifications on me adjusting the pitch to make it "playable":
-Pull out 2-3 mm at the barrel
-Pull out 3 mm between the two joints
-Pull out 1 mm at the bell
-Put a piece of cork underneath the lower portion of the bridge key to lower the heights
-Same thing as above but under the registry key.
This model is a Made in Germany horn if that helps. (Maybe the horns from whatever factory are tuned way high?) Update: with the 65mm A=445 and with the Behn 66mm A=443
Anyway, I was looking at this horn as a good backup instrument for those times when emergencies happen. Despite how it plays more evenly than my Tradition (with a fairly bright tone, sadly,) if I can't get it in tune, there's no point.
