What's the consensus on low c bass cases? I have my eyes on the BAM trekking but it's a little pricy, although I can't seem to find a cheaper case. Any recommendations? I'd prefer a case that can fit in an overhead bin on a plane and backpack straps would be nice, but not necessary.

Bronzor,
The BAM cases are beautifully made and have all sorts of extras like backpack straps, a built-in rain cover, and a couple of nice additional pockets. Yes, a little pricey but keep your original Ridenour case so that if you upgrade at some point down the road, you can always sell the BAM at good price.
Make the investment now in a BAM case and you will never be sorry.

PS I have Tom Bihn shoulder straps for all my heavier cases. These are the very best and most comfortable straps around. https://www.tombihn.com/products/shoulder-straps?variant=16664457159
