Those cases destroy reeds. At least in my experience. You have to jam them into the slot to close it (as you stated) and then they leave indentations on the heart. Reeds of thicker blanks also have difficulty fitting. And I know of at least one situation where a friend of mine had the tip of her plastic Reed crushed by the hinge (it was too thin and the holder let it slide too far into the hinge when closed) Which is a shame because protects other products are usually pretty good.

Check out the d'addario Reed case. Similar but only holds 8 reeds.
