Interestingly, Kronthaler also launched its new website. Some interesting points
here:
https://www.kronthaler-klarinetten.de/english-1/
1. The waiting time for their new clarinet is 5 years!!!
2. It says that they use "oil bath" for annual overhaul (for one week?!). Not sure what it is.
3. They do offer Boehm system clarinets but at this moment they are too busy to do that.

And the over 10k euro price tag seems to make their clarinets the most expensive ones in the world...

If the photos are from their actual manufacturing, maybe they could cut the waiting time in half by simply using a quick change tool for their lathe

The long waiting time is probably due to that they have too many orders and they don't want to employ more people (to maintain the quality?).

They probably don't produce that much more slowly than other clarinet makers. Kronthaler already has 4 employees and 2 trainees I think, but as everyone here in Germany, she's heavily affected by the "Fachkräftemangel" (a popular catchword in our media): Lack of specialists. Especially in this branch, there are either too few able and/or willing people to learn this job. If I ever become tired of dentistry, who knows... :D
But compare this to the fancy Backing website. Trial periods, prices shown for every model, a list of their artists, many options to chose from. And they've currently announced a carbon clarinet. Different business models, I guess - quality over innovation at Kronthaler?

Two players from Berliner Phil play Kronthaler, which is certainly a strong promotion for their business. Nevertheless, their waiting time is at least shorter than heckel bassoon, whose waiting time is over 10 years.
Probably from this prospective (no need to wait), we should blame Buffet less?
