Ever need to prove why strong odd overtones are essential for a good clarinet sound?
“Spectroid”, a spectrum analyzer for android/ios, shows the overtones in any sound. Play a fuzzy clarinet sound and all overtones appear. Refine the sound and the odd overtones dominate. It is all visual as you play.
It is a great teaching tool to help players see the results of their sound production efforts.
