 Jack heywarth paramount mouthpiece
Author: Ivette

Hi all,

I got a noblet artist serial number dating to 1969 from eBay and it came with two mouthpieces. One writes Jack heywarth paramount made in England and the other Howarth made in London and has alittle harp logo at the top. Can't find much info -if at all-.. on the internet. Does anyone has any knowledge on experience on either of the two?

Is one actually Jack Hayworth (not heywarth?)
I've come across this name mostly on sax mouthpieces and believe they were made somewhere up north (Leeds, Manchester?)

The Howarth sounds like George Howarth who had his business, primarily instrument repair in York Street, London
This shop is sadly long gone.
He was one of the most respected repairers at the time.
He was related to one of the founders of the famous Howarth oboe manufacturing organisation but there was no connection between George's shop and the Oboe group.
I visited the shop in York street in the late 1950s and had a mouthpiece made there. I don't have it now but I seem to remember the harp symbol.
I believe he made quite a large number of mouthpieces over the years.

Both mouthpieces, if not altered or damaged, could be good pieces.

Thank you for the info. i like the story of the Howarth mothpiece. It looks like the Jack Haywarth company was at Blackpool North England. Yes it is Haywarth not Heywarth... They seem to be in good condition, very different than my Vandoren. I'll have to play them to Bernhard them.
