I just bought a Selmer 100 B flat Clarinet on ebay. I know a little about it, but I would like to know more (is it a good instrument, what are some of it's advantages and disadvantages, anything...). The description said that it is also called a Signet. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Search the board, there have been many threads on Signet 100s and Signet Specials.

It is an "intermediant level' instrument (for those people who want a quality instrument but do not want to spend the "big bucks" for a "pro level" variety) and should play ok. However, the bottom line is, as Duke Ellington said, "If it sounds good, it is good." Bottom line--your own personal satisfaction is most important so let your ears be the judge (and your tuning meter). Good luck!!!!!

I have played with a guy who owns a Selmer Signet he got when he was in high school back in the 60s. I tried to get him to upgrade, but he won't part with it. He's overhauled it dozens of times and swears nothing else plays like it does. And, he has a pretty good tone--all things considered.
