I've come across a Buffet B12 which seems to be OK except that the tenon rings are split rings rather than the one-piece jointless rings I'd expect. I think this smells a little of rodents, could anyone comment?
Thanks.

Are they metal coated black plastic rings?

I'm not sure, Chris. I only have a photo to go on. Would the plastic rings appear as split rings? I'd think it would be easier to just make seamless rings. Thanks.

No, but they tend to break in general, and often exactly like that i.e. split (I'm guessing where the two sides of the mold connect but not sure). This is just about the only design that is worse than not having rings.
