Hello
I have recently purchased one of my grail accesories, the woodstone kodama 2 by a Japanese company named Ishimori
It is a leather ligature with a Granadilla plate fixed where the reed is held.
It is quite a pricey ligature and I try to and want to maintain it properly so that it will serve it's purpose for years to come.
I try to fasten the ligature by screwing very gently, not too tight, just tight enough to hold the reed properly.
My concern is the Granadilla plate.
It's basically a wood and it must be sensitive to temperature and humidity.
I am worried that the plate will crack because of poor maintenance.
I don't oil my clarinet as I don't want the oil to stick on pads.
But for this case, is oiling a good idea? Or is there any better idea?
Have a nice day cla fam
Naum

Since Roberto's Winds sells them, I suggest sending them an email to: info@robertoswinds.com.
I believe they should be able to answer your ligature maintenance concerns.

I own one of these and use it occasionally. Honestly I wouldn’t worry, I’ve had mine at least 2-3 years and never had an issue. You’re not blowing down the grenadilla plate 😉
