Is a Selmer usa 1400 a good step-up clarinet? Thanks for your help!

Selmer USA 1400 would be a good student model.

The 1400 is an entry-level clarinet, and OK to get started with. It's also a nice option for outdoors playing and marching band.

The design dates back to 1948, however. If you need an upgraded instrument that isn't wood, the Ridenour Lyrique and Backun Alpha merit serious consideration.
