Agree with Ed. Marcellus used a 1928 Buffet for many years. It was a straight bore, pre R13. But Hans Moennig did a lot of work to it.
To get a feel of what these sound like try a Yamaha CSG111 clarinet. A German clarinet, but it has a straight bore. Then you will have that sound in your ear. It is a special sound. It isn't a small sound at all. It's big and warm. Not to be confused with dark. Then try some vintage horns that have that sound. When you find one have a good repairman tune it up a bit. You will love it.
