Yes clarinet playing needs to be fun, not painful, or frustrating. I think you have to ask around a bit. Bob Marcellus had dentures later on in his life and he sounded just fine, even after going blind. However, Iggie Gennusa lost his sound completely. It was horrible. So be careful with whom you choose. When you see the dentist, or an ortho bring your horn and maybe a small mirror so he/she completely understands the gravity of the situation. Then playing a few notes will surely help decide how to make you SOUND best. (The length of the veneers)
Keep us posted. This is something we all may have to face one day. Car wrecks, things like that. We never know. Just falling somewhere will knock out a tooth or 2.
