All:
I was recently informed that Moe-Bleichner will no longer be representing Uebel in the USA. Does anyone know how or if the brand will be continuing in the US? Thanks!

Mitch,
Did you hear this directly from someone at Moe_Bleichner? They're still listed on the Uebel USA website. Of course it could just be not yet updated.
I do hope they continue in the US because the clarinets are so good and they are such helpful and nice people.
I feel like Uebel does not market aggressively in the US. Maybe there's something to this rumor?

Yes, this has been confirmed by people at MB. Hard to believe they are just going to abandon the US market given the positive reception here. My guess is that the folks at Uebel Deutschland want a different USA arrangement. Just curious what that might be...

You almost never find out exactly why that stuff happens, other than that somebody somewhere with the requisite authority decided it was in their financial interest. Uebel has a positive reception here on this BB, but the real money for most makers is probably in school purchases, student horns, pro horns for college students, and so on. If all you saw was their marketing here, you didn't know about their history, and you hadn't played one or heard from someone who had, you'd be justified in thinking of them as probably like one of those minor factories that crank out questionable horns that sell to optimistic folks as one of a half-dozen different brands; maybe Schreiber by other means. Continuing that way might not justify the expenses of making top instruments for the American market.
