I've been fasinated by psychics (good ones) for years. I love hearing about past lives, futures and all that stuff. Both my parents have had experiences with this psychic woman who is one of dad's customers. They are very skeptical about it, but they have been told some stuff in the past which amazed them to be true. I am thinking of going to see this woman. I have told her I might be coming. I'm interested to know if I have any furture in music. Without my Mum mentioning music at all, the woman told her that she see's me living overseas and becoming an internationally known performer. I am a bit scared though because what if she has no idea what she's talking about, and she tells me my future is in something other than music. She could be completely wrong and I may not know it...so I would probably end up quitting my university degree and everything because I would be disheartened. I have a religious friend who is trying to talk me out of going to see this woman. She says I deserve better then to have one woman try and shape my life. She also says that it is against Christian morals or something. I am Christian, but not hugely into religion or anything. What should I do?

C'mon now - this is really far away from clarinets. Let's not encourage this thread.
Sorry, Aussie Nick.

You make your future. You can't let someone "predict" your future.

Ok Aussie Nick. Here's the deal. I am a Christian also and am strongly against the whole psychic thing. You decide what you are going to do with your life; don't let anyone else, especially someone you don't know. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Aussie Nick -
Mark's right, Nick, this really is getting away from clarinets. It'll take you on a path, as Bob points out, that'll waste your time and your money.
Don't go there.... re-read your last three sentences; in fact re-read your whole post. Taking your last three sentences to heart, read Isa. 8;19-20 OT -and- 1Jn 4;1-3 NT
Get your priorities in order and your focus on Your goals. No other person can do that for you. What they can do is set you to chasing rainbows and squandering your money if you allow it.

Plus, she only said she saw you performing overseas. What happens if that turns out to be a male stripper in some sleazy dive in Amsterdam? Uhm, just for the record, I'm not a christian; rather I'm more of a post-Enlightenment pagan idolator. But at least some of us idolators also think the psychic thing is bunk. Save your money. Go out and buy some reeds or a nice barrel instead.

she specified that I'd be a performer of music. Nonetheless, it doesn't really matter because I think I've been talked out of it now. Sorry for drifting away from clarinets.

Ummmmmmmmmm yeah this is a rather strange thing to be up on this board-but may I make one comment?
There are several places in the Bible that discuss things such as psychics and sorcery and whatever-and it doesn't speak good things-Galatians 5:19-21. Going to a psychic is "against" Christian morals-I put against in quotes because Christians don't need to look to psychics to hear the future-they know that God has a plan for them-see Jeremiah 29:11 and following-also, look at Proverbs 3:5-6.
If this offends anyone, too bad....I don't apologize when it comes to sharing my faith Take care all

I have always assumed that a psychic would know if I needed to be called.
Evidently I don't. Also, why should seers need to take money for their services,
if they were good they should clean up in the stock market, horse races etc.
I would not consider a psychic who did not have a good "track record" or
record at the track.
Just prepare for the opportunties that will come your way.
Save your money.

Seeing Mark is keeping this here....
For his own intertainment a local member of the sceptics society published a book on "Pawmistry" for cat lovers to read the paws of their cats. He totally made the whole thikng up, was taken seriously, and made a lot of money. Is psychic stuff any different? At some time inn the past the whole thing was made up to con the gullible.
