Am looking for a sturdy stand to hold (securely) a Bass and/or Bb Soprano clarinet. Any of our sponsors sell them? If not who does?

Hello I had the same problem with my alto clarinet (for which there is no official stand) and this is the sensible solution (which works). I quote the reply I received.
>>
believe it or not, the 9.99 guitar stand at the music store will work
you take the bottom part (where it detaches - looks like a U)
and bend it so that it will support the bell of the instrument.
adjust the top part all the way down (you might need to cut this part down)
so that it provides a place for the top to lean against.
This also works great for the bass clarinet, and usually no modifications
are needed for the bigger instrument. It sure beats paying a bazillion
dollars for a wire stand quality holder!

Thanks, Cyrill, I never thought to modify a guitar stand. I've been staring awfull hard at an old snare drum stand for a couple days and no light bulbs popped up over my head yet. I gotta make a stand for my contra as I may be doubling on our July 4th concert.

Thanks Cyril. That might take care of half the problem, but if I am doubling I need a stand for the Bb Soprano also and hoped for a "combined" piece. I will check this out. Maybe it can be equipped with a peg stand also.

I've always liked the Koenig & Meyer stand for about $15. It's very sturdy and will support the instrument. I'd personally stay away from Pac-A-Stand and the Buffet plastic stands that fit into your case or clarinet bell for storage. I think that the Woodwind and Brasswind have a clarinet peg that can fit a music stand. Maybe that can help you?

The Koenig & Meyer bassoon/bass clarinet stand is very good for a bass. I don't know of one stand that will work for bass or soprano, so I suggest you get one for each.
