Hello--my clarinet quartet is currently playing a wonderful arrangement of "Smoke Get In Your Eyes" by John Morrisey.
Does anyone know what book or publisher it's from? I would love to procure more of his arrangements. Copyright TB Harms 1933.
Thank you!

I haven't heard the name John Morrisey for years. He was the long time director of the band at Tulane University in New Orleans. You could check with the Howard-Tilton music library at Tulane to see if the librarians there know of any good source for Morrisey's many compositions and arrangements. Also ask the music department directly if the Tulane band library still holds any Morrisey arrangements.
The first clarinet solo I did with my high school band was Morrisey's "Interlude." After reading your post, I looked for a copy of that long lost composition on Amazon and found a used one! Have to thank you for that.
The Howard Tilton Library definitely remembers Morrisey. Here's something that put up from old Tulane Band recordings:

As a kid, I never missed Tulane Band concerts. Used to hear alto sax player Don Lasday with them frequently. Local guitarist and friend of Pete Fountain's Paul Guma once played Morrisey's "Interlude" with the Tulane Band. Law professor Shael Herman may have also.
Thanks for the memories. Wish I could help more. Have you checked with any of the military bands to see if they have the Morrisey arrangement in their performance library?

I'm so glad my post helped you to re-connect with his music! I certainly will follow your leads--if he did anything else as wonderful as the "Smoke" arrangement he was a master, for sure!
Thanks again!
