In this transitional and experimental period, you really need to measure the bore to be at all sure. The "pre-R13" (which was always called R13 in the catalogue) had a bore that was close to cylindrical near 14.90 mm diameter in the upper joint, whereas the Carree R13 tapered substantially, from between 14.9 & 15.0 at the top of the upper joint, to around 14.70 at the bottom of that joint. That's a big enough difference that it's not hard to detect, although you still need an appropriate tool to do the measuring.
