I recently purchased a very nice grenadilla wood clarinet with nickel silver keys which says it was made in France and the bell says "Euclid's" on it. I have no idea of the history of this clarinet and was wondering if anybody had heard of this brand or if it was a particular model of another brand. Can't get any information locally, but it has a great warm tone and appears to be quite old. I'm pretty new to clarinets, so this is terra incognita... Thanks for any replies... Best, Warren

It sounds like a "stencilled" clarinet, made by somone in France for sale in US and "named" here. All I do with Euclid is recall it as a Cleveland suburb, and H N White [King insts] were made thereabouts. Any info, Mark? Don

Thanks for the info. It may be one of either of those possibilities... Anyway, the main point is it plays well. I'm not complaining. Quality is quality... When I got it I thought it had brass keywork, but it just hadn't been cleaned in ages... Euclid's doesn't sound real French, so the music store idea is a good one I think. The case appears to be original or was specifically made for this clarinet, but has no markings on it at all... The case looks real 20's or 30's vintage. The leather edging is falling apart from age... Guess it's an enigma... So many things in life are... No telling what this instrument has lived through... Anyway, thanks for the replies. Best, Warren
