I have tried many Pomarico over the years (I probably own 6 or 7 of them), and also found them to be wildly inconsistent. Found a "wizard" model that I liked better than my MoBa and my Hawkins - had a certain "life" (or ping, as some say) to the sound, while still being dark and "legit" sounding.

I tried a bunch of the Backun mouthpieces at Midwest last year, and they all played extremely consistently (for me, at least). I ended up getting a CG, and it is my main mouthpiece now - quite a big improvement over even the wizard model, IMO. You may want to try the CG+ as well, they told me it was outselling the CG these days.
