Mention was made in another subject heading of the Graftonite mouthpiece by Rico. Personally I have found these to be awful, perhaps the worst production mouthpiece I have ever come across. A while ago I acquired one of these in as-new condition with an instrument that I bought. Out of interest I tried it out, and to my great surprise it played extremely well.
This wasn't what I was expecting, and I tried another Graftonite from my junk box. As I expected, it was a piece of junk. Back to the first one and it played like a winner. There's no evidence of any reworking on it and the finish is pretty much as it came out of the factory. Something of a mystery. I can only assume that this is a case of this one being at the extreme edge of manufacturing specifications, far enough out of spec to take it into another dimension. It would have been great if they had made them all to this spec.

I've learned enough now to rework mouthpieces for myself with fair success. My current favourite mouthpieces are a Clark Fobes CF+ San Fransisco, a Ridenour Artist Quality and a self-reworked B & H 926.

You are being polite saying that the Rico mouthpiece was awful! They put millions into this failed design. Designed by Arnold Brilhart.

These appear to me to be injection molded, labeled and put in the box. So I doubt there is a spec for the good one that is different than the others. It is just manufacturing variation that can eventually produce a decent playing one.
Measuring the facing of your good one and transferring it to other ones using the conventional system of feelers and a glass gauge could be done. There are no other "3D techniques" that can match conventional hand facing work in cost and quality at this time.
