Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has played the newly introduced LeBlanc "Opus II"? I am interested to know how it varies to the original Opus. I already know about the changes to the mechanism, I am more interested in knowing about any changes to the sound...

Yes, as a matter of fact I just came from a trip to Chicago where I had the opportunity to go by International Musical Suppliers and play several Opus clarinets, including the Opus Millenium, or Opus II as people are sometimes calling it. It had a very nice tone and actually seemed a bit lighter than the standard Opus, although I didn't weigh it. I liked it except for the new design of the keys. I found the lower left hand side very awkward. I suppose one would soon get used to it, but if you're looking for the feel of the Opus, you need to stick to the Opus. By the way, the Opus Millenium isn't going to replace the Opus. It is a separate instrument. The Opus is still around in all its magnificent glory and fantastic sound. And yes, the Millenium sounds different---good--but slightly different. I can't really put it in words.
