"I Have a Little Dreidel" (also known as "The Dreidel Song" or "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel")

How about "thanks for sharing your extraordinary knowledge you have spent your life collecting and telling me what the song was, so that now I can search to discover who the artist was"?

Um, I'm not here to argue. I knew it was the dreidel song, and I had already done my best to research and didn't find anything.

But I appreciate you, Donald, for attempting to stick up for a fellow board member. Have a nice day

That's a much different question than "What song is this?" - perhaps changing the title of your original post (if possible) would net the response you're looking for?

My only other thought - is: it looks like the post on Youtube is fairly recent - it might be worth trying to contact the Youtube poster if you haven't already.

Best of luck in your search!
Fuzzy

My wife is now laughing at me, apparently everyone in the world except for me knows the Dreidel song... I've never heard this song, or heard OF it. She's from USA, I'm from NZ, let's just put it down to cultural differences!
I had no idea at all that this was a well known childrens song.

Apparently the Dreidel song is as well known as Jingle bells, I am being mercilessly mocked.

It is most certainly NOT as well-known as Jingle Bells. Any place without a large Hanukkah-celebrating population (which would be almost all of the US, actually) will be unfamiliar with the song. Some of us will know of the song through modern media or pop culture, but we definitely don't *know* it.

I cannot see the majority of US citizens knowing [religious] children's songs from other cultures. It's just not our way. Maybe in New York where almost 10% of the population is Jewish, but not much of anywhere else.

donald, your wife may be right based on her personal experience, but that does not reflect the rest of the country.

They actually used to teach this song/other ethnic holiday songs at my elementary school

I would say it's commonly known here in Southern California. Not as well as Jingle Bells perhaps, but it is common. Some kids know it from the "South Park" cartoon show.

It's also in the Accent on Achievement band method book.
