 B12 obsession

My main purpose is to buy old unloved instruments mostly student instruments, service them free of charge and hopefully place them in the hands of students or someone who will love them.I dont aim to make a profit but just do my bit for the clarinet world.

In doing this I have learnt that the B12 is the most sought after instrument in the student world. I dont disagree with this as it is a really good student instrument but it does make me feel that Yamahas are neglected as is the EVETTE from Germany. I recently bid on a buffet E11 and pulled out when it want over £200. Can anyone explain why an EVETTE only makes £50 when a B12 will be £100+ and and E11 £200= which I am told is the same instrument as the E11?

The E11 is a wooden version of the B12, so they will naturally command more than a plastic clarinet.

Hi Chris,

It is the other way around the B12 (ABS) will command double the price of the EVETTE. The E11 will be double the price of the B12 so I think the Evette is underated, wht do you think?

Check the prices of the B&H Regent II which is the same instrument as the Evette and B12 - it was the interim model that came after the Evette and before the B12.

I bought one for a considerably low price and the only difference is the bell (it has a B&H Regent style bell) and the logos compared to the plastic Evette and early B12.

Apart from those minor cosmetic differences, they are all the same instrument made by Schreiber.
