Hi
Just wondering what grade/level the clarinet solo in Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue might be.
I'm thinking maybe grade 6/7?
Thanks in advance

Sheet music plus says 4+
Alfred says 6
But again thats for the whole piece, not just the clarinet solo. I would say lvl 5

Alicia---what's the top number in your scaling system? For me, in NY State, High School auditions with NYSSMA (NY State school musicians association) are ranked from one to 6. I don't know if that's consistent from State to State, Nationally or Internationally.
If using such a scale, I'd concur with Mr. Zhang's above post here.

Hi David
I'm in the UK, using the Trinity College/Associated Board (ABRSM) system which goes from 1-8. I'm currently working at 6/7.

No matter what numerical rating it gets, for a high school student it is a very advanced clarinet orchestra part even beyond the opening gliss.
