 Bundy Eb Clarinet?
Author: tanoh

Recently I have been in the market for a new Eb clarinet and, unfortunately, I don't have much of a budget. I was looking for one at around ~$500 and have had little success. I would just be using this horn in my spare time and not any professional use. I was looking around Ebay and I saw some Bundy Plastic Eefers that were going for around $400-$500 and I was wondering if they were any good? I haven't had much success with other Bundy Plastic clarinets (I've tried a Bb and an alto) in which they didn't stay in tune with themselves and they just sounded flat out bad.
Thanks,
Tanoh

I've read on here that people have had a lot of success with Bundy Ebs using a quality mouthpiece and having them professionally overhauled. Also that they are better players compared to Vito Ebs.

Don't settle with the factory condition or any run-of-the-mill repad - have them repadded and fully set up as any pro level clarinet to get the best from them.

If you are planning to have it serviced you shouldn't have to pay more than $200. I got mine for $100 and have seen many listed for about that. Be patient.

Chris:
Two Toots has a good point, if you find a 'great' deal on the Eb, you can spend your remaining budget to get the horn altered (not just a repad) to get it playing great. A quality overhaul is going be $200+, with alterations for tuning, it'll get even more expensive.
Be patient if you're not in a hurry, a 'deal' will show itself to you.

Oops! I read that as you shouldn't have to pay more than $200 for a service.

If you're planning on picking up an Eefer from an Internet auction, note that the wooden-bodied Noblet and Normandy E-flat models sometimes turn up inexpensively. I've seen the Normandy Model 10Eb go for under US$200 more than once.

Whatever you do, don't skimp on the rebuild, and get the best mouthpiece you can afford.

For a budget of $150.00 what would be the best mouth pieces for an eefer

It seems you are prepared to pay way over the odds for a plastic bundy. in uK you can pick one up for $40 on e bay (Bb)
I dint find that bundys were better than Vitos, I have had more success with the Vito.
Check out UK e bay, the postage will be more but you might save some money, look for a working model.
