Hi all, I purchased a blue Fobes 10k rr bass clarinet mouthpiece. I had been using a Fobes basso nova cf(closest facing for nova) with a vandoren optimum lig and grand concert select 4reeds. I used 3 grand concert select on the 10k. The RR facing is similar to a selmer C*. It took me awhile to get used to it. At first I thought it was too edgy and bright. Once I got used to it I love the crisp sounding lows and the bright but full midrange and highs. The above the staff D E and F do not thin out but stay full sounding.,Reponse and articulation are great with this mouthpiece. Very open sound with prescence. The nova has a darker sound but doesn't respond as well as the 10k and also has a more closed in sound for lack of s better word. The nova tuned with Yamaha 622 II neck out a 1/4 inch. The 10k tuness 5 cents sharper than the nova. With 10k Yamaha 622 II neck is out 1/2 inch even with the addition of 1.5mm tuning rings that Clark sent me. I was going to get Clark to ream it out a bit more but he said mouthpiece may loose some of the presence I like. The tuning rings really helped. I sure with a buffet prestige or selmer privilege rings wouldn't be needed. I'm referring to the fact the selmer and buffets tune lower than the Yamaha. When Clark reviewed the 622 in the September 2014 clarinet journal he found it tuned better with his longer selmer 33 neck which got it to 440. With the Yamaha neck that was not possible for Clark . It tunes nice for me with the rings and 1/2 inch out. 10k plays a lithe louder than nova which is why I upgraded. I wanted a little more umphhh from my bass clarinet. 10k is beautiful and looks like blue marble. Clark is very very easy to talk to and extremely knowledgeable.

Yes, Clark makes terrific stuff and is one of the great guys in this business. I like that his mouthpieces produce a nice clear ringing sound with great response.

Is there a way try his mouthpieces to see if it will work for me. I would not want to fork out that kind of money only for it not work, especially on my Eefer. Unfortunately I have not been able to find a local music store here in Atlanta that would carry them.
