I have been attempting to play an e flat clarinet I found in a cupboard years ago and have found that it doesn't have a barrel or indeed capacity to take a barrel. As far as I can see it consists of a bell, the main body and a mouthpiece. I can't see any other examples of this on the internet and the makers mark looks like buffet but isn't very clear. Does anyone know anything about this style of clarinet ( and what I can do sans barrel to make intonation a bit easie. I'm not just missing one it affixes straight on to the mouthpiece.
Thanks in advance

I had a JTL Eb clarinet exactly like this. It is sometimes called an "integrated barrel" and was common on instruments from around the 1880s to the early 1900s. Not many options for tuning except pulling out at the mouthpiece.
