Hi all! I was just wondering what an appropriate book after Rubank Advanced volume 2 would be? would Melodious and Progressive Studies, Book 1, for Clarinet be adequate follow up for this book or is it too easy? Or would the Artistic Studies book 1 be more suitable for a course after the rubank?

Are those also Rubank books? If not, who are the editors? In any case, my first reaction would be to leave Rubank and start working on Rose (40 Studies) or Baermann Book 3, maybe supplemented by Kroepsch and the Daily Studies (diatonic and chromatic scales, arpeggios, scales in thirds) from Klose (beginning of Book 2 if you can find it in two volumes). There are others, I'm sure, but these are the ones I've had students do if they can play the material in Rubank Advanced II.

Play through Melodious & Progressive 1, then Artistic 1.
Also pick up a copy of the Foundation Studies books.

Now that I see the Melodious and Progressive Studies on the web, I realize that I recently bought a copy of Book 2 just for some unfamiliar material to read through and (if something appealed to me) practice. I assume Book 1 is an easier level, but the composers listed on the cover should be a good sampling of study material. Some of Hite's selections are, I suspect (since I don't have Book 1) taken from the Baermann and Klose volumes I mentioned.
