I have a broken screw head on the register key of my Vito. It is impossible to remove the screw.
How can this be done? and where canI buy a new screw?
Any Ideas?

A good tech should be able to remove the screw. (Even if it's a pain or requires special tools.) Unless there is a convenient donor horn around it would be easiest to make a new one from drill rod.

A repair shop will have screw extractors small enough to grab into the broken stub of a clarinet rod screw. The shop owner may also have a drawer full of spare parts he or she has collected from cadaver instruments.
Out of curiosity, how did the screw break?

Do you mean the slot is ruined so a screwdriver can't grab onto it? I use a dental micromotor to reslot the rod, it is possible to do this without damage to the post.
Screw extractors need a hole drilled into the rod and I don't like that method.
You can try drilling in reverse if the screw isn't tight or a left hand drill if you have one, though this is more likely to damage the post.
The old method was to saw a new slot but this leaves a very significant slot in the post too.

Hi Karl,
The screw head was already damaged when i bought it but I am probably also guilty of applying too much pressure when trying to extract it and not waiting long enough for the penetrating oil to take effect
