Howdy all,
Here's the executive summary...
I bought what I am 91.3% sure was a student model Buffet clarinet for my son roughly 13 years ago. I remember doing the research, looking for a good deal on ebay, and spending around $250-$300 for it. He quit after a year and we loaned it to a friend's kid. Several years later it was returned.
Now here's the mystery. There is no way that I would have accepted the clarinet when I originally bought it if it wasn't clearly what I had ordered/paid for. Yet, the clarinet I'm looking at now has no branding. No make, no model. The only markings I can find are two matching engraved/stamped numbers (serial #'s I assume) and "Made in Germany", also engraved. The first serial # is at the bottom end of the top section and the second # is at the top of the lower section. "Made in Germany" is engraved/stamped just below the serial # on the lower section.
I don't think it's wood, but the finish appears "wood-like", in that it has very fine lines that look like wood grain. The case is just a cheap generic no-name case.
I checked the serial number (907147) on the Buffet website. No joy.
So this is my last shot. I'd like to be able to sell it but unless I can prove the make and model, I doubt anyone would by it for more than a few bucks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
