 Yea, my metronome's off!

As Andrey Lowy of the LA Phil points out, that's not a bad thing...

of course when I say "off" I don't mean to say that there's lack of equal time between beats, or, say, that the metronome clicks to the beat of a clock's second hand when set to 110:

I like what Mr. Lowy has to say here. The second version of Lowy's play felt, to me at least, more like he was playing to the beat of a fellow musician percussionist, not a robot, allowing him to focus more on musicality, and perhaps less (or differently) on meter.

This is NOT to imply that I believe etude study be done any way but conventionally.

Mine is always off. In fact, I don't even own a metronome, never have. Perhaps that's why I'm still just an amateur :)
