 Insuring an instrument

Has anyone had any experience with Clarion Insurance? I searched the archives here and didn't see much about it other than they insure musical instruments.

My homeowner's insurance company is a royal pain in the butt with what they require along with many stipulations.

We're playing a Memorial Day concert at the National WWII museum in New Orleans and will be spending the night in a hotel there. (Plugging the concert ha ha!!) I'm not worried too much about it at home, but think I need to insure it while traveling.

Any input is appreciated!

I've traveled a lot with my clarinet and I try to never leave it alone in a hotel room. Insurance does not stop someone from stealing it. Try to have as small a case as reasonable, such as some of the Yamaha cases, which can be inexpensive. I do not have instrument insurance, but instead am very careful about instruments, such as not leaving them in hotels or auto trunks. Have a good concert!

I've always covered my cameras, instruments, and such with a "personal articles floater" I've had for decades and has very reasonable rates. I suggest you talk to whoever handles your other policies.

I've had all my eggs in one basket- insurance wise- for 40 years, and without a doubt spent more than I needed to. All of you would know the name of my insurance company. But I had a recent auto accident (other driver clearly at fault, no contest there) and was not at all happy with the service from that company and my agent. When the dust settles I'm probably looking for new coverage elsewhere. So perhaps I have switched to a buy from anybody at the lowest price shopper. Gotta change with the times I guess.

Do you think a locked case would help out?
