Disclaimer first: I make and sell custom barrels.
After consultation with Auto-Tune's(R) software engineers and with several
audio hardware designers, I have begun a producing custom Buffet and Selmer style barrels (Yamaha and German types to follow), that are internally fitted with a self-regulating AutoTune circuit.
Since this announcement is the first anywhere, I hope GBK and Mark C will allow it to pass.
Using a wifi input to set desired pitch for tuning (Mac and PC iOS and Android compatible) the barrel will adjust for deviations in tone hole, bore, and embouchure.** In other words, it corrects errors intrinsic to the clarinet and YOUR errors in reed/jaw pressure as well.
It is powered by a single #357 Lithium battery and it then
**modulates the pitch via an inflating/deflating Argon filled internal bore bladder.
Watch this forum for news of availability.
Picture is of a prototype. The battery niche and a small mic. are on the other side.
(No PMs please, as I will NOT move you to the front of the line for ordering).

Many uptight conductors, instructors, and listeners will be happy that all attempts at deliberate pitch bending or vibrato will be banished back to the slimy pits of Hades they came from. Say- that probably means no market for big bore clarinets or jazz mouthpieces either. Some would claim that is no loss.

Mark: That information is proprietary, but I am sure you can do the math and figure it out.
I toyed with doing 2 versions.... the Old Philly version. Full, colorful, carries well in large auditorium even with earplugs on. And...the Euro-Canadian version. Fundamental frequency, no overtones, heard best in closet filled with clothing, but it is catnip to younger players.

Forgive my skepticism but this was posted on April Fools, so if this is an April fools joke I applaud you.

Please raise the production in kickstarter or indegogo, many clarinetists may have interest!
PS. I think it is also an April's fool.

I believe this barrel could be marketed as the BOL (barrel of laughs)
Best line:
And...the Euro-Canadian version. Fundamental frequency, no overtones, heard best in closet filled with clothing, but it is catnip to younger players."
Thanks!
