While I was recovering from a shoulder injury, my clarinet teacher created this temporary version of a FHRED for me (he used the FHRED I had for an English Horn as the basis). The clip portion clips onto the thumb rest and the stopper next to it rests against the clarinet. The linkage at the bottom end allows you to adjust the height. The bottom end rests on the chair you are sitting on and the whole thing takes the weight off your thumb and arm. It worked very well.
