I recently came across another Mozart clarinet concerto! To my surprise, this piece was originally a rondo for another piano concerto which he never finished. It is called the concerto-rondo in Bb Major, KV382. After some research, I discovered that this has been transcribed for clarinet and orchestra many times, most notably by the great Simeon Bellison, the Russian-born clarinetist who was principal in the NY Philharmonic from about 1920 to 1948. I expect to perform this piece fairly soon with the piano reduction. However, I would also like to play it with one of my orchestras. I might end up orchestrating it myself, but that is a bitch. Does anyone have the orchestra parts to this piece to save me some time and energy? I would also love to hear another interpretation of it, so if anyone has any recordings of this piece, please tell me. (or any info whatsoever) -Thanks, Dylan

The Neue Mozart Ausgabe lists the following instrumentation:
Flauto, 2 Oboi; 2 Corni, 2 Clarini; Timpani; Pianoforte; Archi
Far from a clarinet concerto - it is also known as the Rondo in D for piano and orchestra and has been recorded many times. While Bellison may have transcribed it, to call it a clarinet concerto would be a great stretch. Bellison did some other "interesting" things from time to time.

I just came across an old 78rpm record of Bellison playing part of the Concerto Rondo with piano. It's only parts 3 and 4 and haven't found the 1st record. Also with it was a record of him playing the Mozart Variations by Beethoven. Both were on his personal label, so i don't know how many were ever printed.
They aren't flawless performances. I've certainly heard other clarinetists from the time period play better. But they are still interesting bits of history.
