A band mate of mine has purchase what appears to be a "new" (NOS) Selmer C* bass mouthpiece.
I've never played on one but have read a lot about them. From what I've gathered, these may or may not be wonderful "out of the box" and might need to be voiced by someone. I may be way off on this but thought some of you might shed some light on this.
Comments and suggestions for him would be appreciated!

I have two C* bass MPs that have not been refaced and play very well. Dave McClune does do a nice reface of C* bass MPs though.

Any stock mouthpiece is hit-or-miss. If it plays for you well now, leave it be, otherwise consider having it refaced.

As David said above. I've played some that were really good and others that were not at all. Pretty much the same as with any mouthpiece I've ever tried, costume or mass produced. Never found two of anything that played alike.
