Hey Everyone!
I'm thinking about trying out Legere's for bass clarinet. But, I currently use V12 3.5's on bass, and per the reed comparison chart, they don't make a comparable strength. Does anyone have any experience with the harder Legere Signature bass clarinet reeds? What are your thoughts on their compared strengths to other brands? And if you have used both the classics and the signatures, what are some of your thoughts about the differences?
Thanks!
Ron

As you know, it's all personal. For me, I didn't like the classic cut at all. Signatures are good. I've tried to love them, but just not quite there yet. Again, for me, the articulation just isn't like cane. Legere has an exchange program or buy on Amazon and return if you don't like it. I've bought and returned quite a number of them trying out the various strengths and cuts. I did find the tenor sax studio cut plays the best on my MP, but you have to get is centered just right for it to work properly. Try a 3.0 Signature and see what you think. They are suppose to be coming out with the European cut for bass, but it's not available yet.

I was using 3.5 blue box on my Grabner. I now use 2.75 Signatures on it.

I play both cane and Legere Signature bass reeds. I am impressed by them!
My experience coming from Vandoren blue box traditional #3 reeds was that I had to go down to Legere Signature Bass reeds strength 2.5 for a similar feel.

I double on bass, so I use Legere's. They're good since I don't have to adjust them, but I think that caned sounds 100x's better. I use V12's when I can.
