 Yamaha CSG Clarinet FB group
Author: JamesOrlandoGarcia

Decided to create a group on Facebook for all those that play on Yamaha CSG/CSGII/CSGIII horns. If you play on these or want to play on these, feel free to check out our nascent group!

Hi there! I play on a Yamaha CSGIII and would like very much to access your FB page. Unfortunately, I've tried copying ALL the address - up to .....44668 and also just the first line up to .....4374. In both cases I just get referred back to the Clarinet Board!

I'm probably being thick, but is there a shorter address I can use that might get me to your FB page?

Cheers! Peter

If you go to FB you can search for the group.

There's also a more general 'yamaha clarinet owners' type facebook page too to discuss other newer models like the SE artist etc.

I posted a photo of my CSGs in hamilton plate, everyone post your photos there!

Thank you JD for providing a link. I created a specific Facebook group for CSG users because of how fundamentally different these horns are from most other boehm horns on the market. The barrels are 10mm shorter, they're a bit different from buffets to work on and some techs simply won't touch them and mouthpieces and reeds feel different. When I was Midwest trying everything I could, all the French instruments felt terrible to play when I was using my m3013 and 4 legere reeds. But when I went back slapped on a M13 and a 4 v12, it was clear that set up worked better on everything yet that set up would be terrible with my CSGii clarinets.

As mentioned above with the barrels being shorter, the upper joints are 10mm longer. Most cases that hold the clarinet well will not work with these clarinets. Protec will not fit at all, would not recommend jamming the clarinet in a Bam though I know someone who does. So far only the Bonna and Lomax work outside of the standard case Yamaha provides (which is nice but kind of dated in style).

This is partially why despite that the CSGII is amazing and the closest thing to a reform boehm clarinet that you can get, they went back and created THE CSVR. They needed to create a clarinet that would work with the general mouthpiece/Reed combo most people use. They did an excellent job in my opinion. You can see the posts from die hard buffet players that now prefer the CSVRs.

I'm not just speculating. I know people very close to the design teams at Yamaha. Happy clarineting!

I'm the one who fits the CSG in a BAM case. ;)

The foam on the BAM cases is actually quite easy to modify (aka crush) so I was able to easily extend the length of the upper joint fitment areas without compromising the entire case. My Bb/A CSG clarinets fit wonderfully in the New BAM Trekking model, previously I used a Yamaha attache oehler case to transport them.
