Apparently George passed away, I am guessing yesterday. A wonderful musician, nice man, and wonderful story teller.

George and I were good friends in the Allentown High School band, 1941-43. He was a person of sterling qualities, as well as being a virtuoso clarinet and piano player. Sitting next to him was an honor.

Thanks for the Gershwin recording. Really beautiful playing by Mr Silfies! I love the way he jumps up to those high notes :-)
