Next month I will be performing Arabesques by JeanJean for solo and ensemble contest, I was wondering if there was anything I need to really nail to get a superior rating?

The notes, the rhythm, intonation, good tone and musical phrasing. I know that may sounds a bit trite but that's what it takes for play something well, everything.

If you are brave and want more specific feedback, make a video of yourself performing it and post a link here for constructive critique. Even if you don't post it, making the video and reviewing it yourself should help you to discover things that can be improved.

Everything Mr. Palanker said is true! Something I have to add is to have a strong understanding of the piece....it's form, what techniques of clarinet playing are important, what scales and arpeggios should you concentrate on practicing in order to play it cleanly and evenly, is there an emotional context you should bring out to the listener. Study the piano part and know how you and the accompaniment must work together to carry out the whole of the piece. Lots to do, J-MB, but the journey to the performance is worth the effort. Good Luck!
