I saw a New Orleans group playing at a college reunion this past summer. The clarinet player had an Albert system horn. After they were finished, I went up to the table where they were relaxing and told him that I had enjoyed their music. He kind of nodded half-heartedly without looking at me. Them I said, "I don't see many Albert systems these days." With that, he turned to me with a huge grin and we began talking.
It's easy to find the way to an Albert player's heart.

...and it seems like the conversation which makes them roll their eyes begins with..."What kind of clarinet is that? I've never seen a clarinet with the register key wrapping around like that!"
