Hi Guys,
I'm new here because I just got new Buffet Crampon B12 today, which is amazing, But I found a care card inside which says that for the first month it can only be played for no longer than 30 minutes at a time. I would just like to ask anyone who can confirm that this is strictly speaking true, and also how long after stopping can you begin playing again? I need to know because this rule would cut down my practice sessions for a whole month which would be a drag!
I would appreciate any advice you could give if possible please, Thank you.

I don't know why a plastic instrument should have any break-in restrictions. Just swab out every 30 minutes or so ... maybe that is what Buffet means?
I play hard rubber clarinets (wood too, and I DID slowly break those in and treat them with the utmost care, "knock on wood" ...). When I got my rubber clarinets, I just started playing the heck out of them, immediately. Didn't seem to hurt ...
Contact Buffet and see what they say ...

My opinion re: breaking in--- wooden horn, yes. Plastic horn, no.

Great!! That's what I hoped might be true about these models, being made of a synthetic material, but you never know!
Thank you very much for your input and advice, I'll still take it easy for a month though, maybe with 5 minute breaks every half hour and swabbing out.
thanks again,

If you just got it today - return it!! (from a Music store).
B-12 was discontinued
Speaking as a Backun Artist, I'd suggest either the Backun Alpha, or the Beta, but if you are stuck getting it from the dealer, and he doesn't deal Backun, ask for the current Buffet which is a major improvement from the B-12.

Chances are if you only just bought it, you'd have got it at a significantly reduced price as it's now a discontinued model - that's if the shop you bought it from is charitable enough to do that.

You're right Chris, that's just what happened 50% off brand new, and I have no complaints with it, it's great, I think the care cards are general and go out with all the clarinets, the same info is on the buffet website word for word. But the advice you guys have given is sound! Thank you.
