What is the best way to clear up a fuzzy pinch Bb note on a Key of A clarinet?

The pad should have about 3mm clearance when open. It helps to bevel the outside edge of the pad to near where it meets the register tube. This is best done with the key off. While it is off, check to see that there is nothing inside the register tube.

Beveling is important with the register key pad. This pad should be really high quality (not too squishy) cork.
I had to play with register vent pad clearance to compromise between the "pinch" b-flat and "under-toning" or grunts in the left-hand clarion register.
Use the side trill key with the throat A key when you can, or use resonance fingerings. I think there is a free chart that Ricardo Morales has on this subject ...

Some A clarinets have a much worse throat Bb compared to Bb clarinets due to them having a different internal diameter, overall length, position on the top joint and internal shape of the speaker tube.
