Can anyone please identify the barrel that Victor Goines has on his clarinet in this image? It maybe standard to the instrument or it may be custom, I do not know, but I haven't seen a barrel like this before and I was curious. Any information is gratefully received. Thanks.

Charles Bay "pinch" barrel.

PS - only information I can give is I own one, it's been discontinued for a while, it is plastic, and mine is 65 mm. Mine seems to play very well, it's just not my preferred barrel. Basically, it's the same bore as a barrel, without the "excess" thickness. So it's just enough thickness to hold a mouthpiece and upper joint, and tapers to the dimensions of the bore.

It seems to be the exact opposite of the "Fat Boy" barrels beloved of some players.
Have your cake and eat scenario.

Brad Behn now offers his own take on a skinny boy design--an hourglass-shaped barrel made of rubber with a very trim "waist." The intent is to focus and concentrate the sound. Some photos on his facebook page show various players trying this model.

Many thanks everyone. My mild curiosity has been fully satisfied. I think, some years ago, a discontinued barrel would have prompted me to start looking for one. Thank the heavens that those years are over.
