Hi, I've been using this clarinet for about a year now and I would like to know more about it. It is an Evette & Schaeffer Master Model Clarinet, the serial# is 7273. I bought it about a year ago from a friend for a few hundred bucks. It's been working great ever since. I just would like to know more about the instrument, and can't really find anything about it online. Here's an attachment to an image with the logo on it.

Hello Gary,

I'm a little confused, I googled the words of your subject line and found a boat load of information. You could also search this website (upper right hand corner) and find that this instrument has been discussed a lot.

Is there something specific that you're trying to find out?

Gary, you have a fine instrument ... if you search the archives here, there's a lot of interesting (and sometimes confusing) info. Steve Sklar also has interesting details on his site.

Lee Gibson discussed this instrument in detail in The Clarinet of some years ago. I played one. It was excellent.

If you have an original mouthpiece it may be worth a lot too- some ES mouthpieces were made from Chedeville/Lelandais mouthpiece blanks...

The comments I could make may not be applicable because I've heard that there were various versions of the Master Model. However, I had one about 15 years ago and it looked a lot like a R13 Buffet. Yet, it was dull and a little flat in the low register. After undercutting most of the tone holes to raise the low register pitch, it also played with a more focused sound in the low register and it was useable. It was later sold for a few hundred dollars.
