Who's going to the clarinet convention? I'll have a booth there for the first time. Shifrin is playing the first night. That should be fun! It will be good to see him again. He's performing on the Backun horns.

It will be great to meet you and hear you play David! That will be an honor! I think the booth is in room is 238 and the booth is 505 or something like that. The booth number was 6 but they renamed it to 505? I have no idea what happened there. Maybe we can meet for breakfast or dinner, not opposed to a bunch of us getting a beer after a long day! I bet the hall will be filled to hear you play : }

Saving up my vacation days and hopefully enough cash for next year in Orlando! It'll be easier to sell to my wife as long as I start, or end with Harry Potter World!

Wait, isn't Harry Potter World in California?
I'm looking forward to chatting with a lot of vendors, doing some professional development, drumming up some interviews for the podcast, and, of course, socializing with fellow clarinet players!

Sean,
I may have mispoken. Universal Studios in Orlando has a giant harry potter section it seems. Either way, easy sell to the wife when we plan our vacation next year.

Yes, "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" is here in Orlando. I just donated a dollar to a group of school kids here in Orlando who are raising money to go to "Six Flags Over Georgia." Apparently that answers the burning question: "Where do people who live in Orlando go on vacation?"

I wish I could make it out to Kansas to hear you and everyone else this year!
And, to Paul Aviles, another place where people from Orlando vacation is Washington, D.C.. Earlier this year, while informally tour-guiding some family members through the less-beautiful back warrens of the Library of Congress (where the researchers hang out), I overheard a teenaged boy and girl grumbling to their parents that Washington was soooooo
bo-o-o-o-r-r-ring and they'd much rather be back home, touring Hogwarts!
But ClarinetFest certainly wasn't boring the year that event came to Washington, and I encourage everybody who can go to Kansas to go to the Fest this year, because the music will transport you to a place where you'll soon be saying, "Toto, I think we're not in Kansas any more."

We will definitely be at ClarinetFest in Kansas. We're hoping to see lots of old friends, and to make new friends.
We will be bringing lots of mouthpieces, including older popular models, and some new models developed in the last year, including the Virtuoso Clarinet and Bass Clarinet mouthpiece.
Also new are the Grabner Barrels, available again after almost ten years, and a new surprise.
Be sure to stop by the booth and say hello. Help us celebrate the beginning of our 19th year in business and of reaching the total of 10,000 hand crafted mouthpieces! We may even bring along mouthpiece serial number #10000!
