 Wedding music featuring clarinet help!
Author: katee

I am getting married in a couple of months and am currently choosing the music for the ceremony. My fiancé and I are both clarinettists so thought it would be nice to have pieces which feature the clarinet.

So far we have gone for the second movement of the Mozart Clarinet concerto for the walk down the aisle and the second movement of the Rachmaninov piano concerto 2 for the signing of the register, but we are really struggling to think of something for us to walk out to.

We haven't been able to think of anything upbeat enough yet so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Clarinet, walk out...appropriate:

If the Carpenter's "We've Only Just Begin," which starts with and features clarinet isn't on point, I don't know what is

I was thinking of something more from the classical repertoire but the Carpenters could be just the thing!

How about one of Carson Cooman's Lyric Pieces for Clarinet and Piana? You can preview them on iTunes.

The first thing that popped into my head was the first of Finzi's Five Bagatelles.

Although these aren't clarinet solos, the main theme from Karl Goldmark's Rustic Wedding Symphony is very nice and upbeat, as is Grieg's Wedding Day at Troldhaugen.

Best wishes to both of you!

Probably not Walking the Dog...

number 1 from 5 Bagatelles would be lovely - good choice clarinetguy.

"When I'm 64" would also be nice. :)

Clarinet arrangement of Bach's Cantata BWV 156
(Ich steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe!) is gorgeous.............

used the organ version in my 1st Wedding.

Turned out to be the perfect work.

The final section of either of the Mendelssohn concert pieces.

The final section of Shepherd On The Cliff, with 2nd clarinet playing the soprano part.

(I once played "When I'm 64", arranged for quintet, for a wedding. Given that the groom was 60 and the bride was 55, the question of whether things will still be going well at age 64 wasn't a theoretical one. Unfortunately, the answer turned out to be No, as they got divorced when she was 64.)

A lot of the standard wedding music sounds great when played with clarinet instead of violin, flute, or whatever else people normally play.
