Greetings!
I noticed that on some of my mouthpieces, the reed width side to side is not as large as my table (IE there is some of the table of the mouthpiece showing on both sides of the reed when it is centered) Is this normal?
Thanks!

Mouthpieces do vary a lot. In my experience the majority of tables are narrower than the reed however I do have several that have had wider tables from new.
If a mouthpiece has been relayed then that can also widen the table unless the refacer takes steps to reduce it's width again.

I've never found it to be a problem. The important feature is how much rail the reed is sitting on, both along the sides and the tip. The amount of rail contacting the reed will affect how it sounds and responds. Whatever is sticking out beyond the reed edges shouldn't matter.

Having the reed slightly narrower than the table is OK. I fact, it's an advantage, since you can tweak the reed from side to side to find the most resonant spot.
Kal Opperman taught me to make my reeds a tiny amount narrower than the rails, just for that purpose.

Exiawolf, in your post you say the table is wider than the reed. The only mouthpiece I have ever owned with a table wider than the reed is a Bay, I think from the 80's.
Do you actually mean the width in the facing/lay/window area? In the lay/window area I have found that my Zinner blank mouthpieces, Hawkins and Fobes, are a bit wider and, yes, with most reeds some of each rail is clearly visible. I have found the Legere European Signature, which is a wider reed, matches the width of these mouthpieces nicely and play extremely well with them.

I noticed this to a small extent on an M30 Mouthpiece and one of the new BD5's and was just curious

As long as the reed is wider than the window it shouldn't make any difference.
