 R13 Thumbrest switched for E12F
Author: Zain

I prefer to use a neck strap when I play and I was wondering if I would be able to switch my thumb rest for a model with a neck strap loop like the E12F clarinet model. Any thumb rest that has a loop would work. My only criteria would be the mounting plate would have to fit the original screw holes. Thank you.

you can swap the screw that locks the thumbrest to your desired height to one with an eyelet on the end as an easy fix

That's no good as that kind of Buffet thumbrest is very weak anyway and adding extra stress to it will be a disaster.

The current E12F can be fitted, but you will have to expect to have new screw holes drilled in any case - the existing thumbrest holes in the R13 are in the wrong place for an adjustable thumbrest anyway and should be redrilled about 10mm higher than they currently are to get any benefit of having an adjustable thumbrest.

The opinions I express are my own.
