I bought this clarinet in a thrift store thinking it would be a fun project to overhaul. I'm pretty sure it's in C; it seems smaller than the standard Bb but definitely longer than the Eb. The letter C and L.P. (which I've gathered means lower pitch, as in A440?) are stamped throughout the instrument. The bell is also stamped with Lafayette, which I'm guessing is the line. The serial number is 196.
Any info on this instrument would be greatly appreciated! :)

It looks like it's in C. Note that it's stamped Auguste Buffet, not Buffet Crampon. Auguste was a member of the Buffet family, but his instruments are not as desirable.

It has simple keywork, without the patent F#/C# mechanism. It's definitely from before 1900.

It would be good restoration practice if you've never done one.
